Accounting Consultant - Construction

Job Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Consultant, preferably within the Construction/General Contractors focus to join our growing niche market in our Audit & Assurance team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in either private or public accounting. This opportunity is due to our increased growth and business needs. It is an in-office position with flexibility and located in our Syracuse office.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute audit and financial review engagements for clients with a heavy focus on our contractor and construction clients.
  • Audit and financial reviews engagements include planning, fieldwork, analytics, and reporting.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and supporting documentation in accordance with GAAP.
  • Analyze financial data, identify risk areas, and ensure compliance with audit standards.
  • Work closely with team members and clients to resolve questions and deliver accurate, timely results.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve client accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Maintain awareness of current developments in accounting and auditing standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a relevant bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with clients in the construction industry. This experience would include Work in Process (WIP) schedules along with other contractor and construction-specific financial reports.
  • Private or public accounting industry experience, with a focus on audit
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and audit methodology.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with audit and accounting software
  • CPA or track to CPA is preferred but not required

Salary: $85,000-$100,000 (DOE)
